The Beauty of Reflection Combine technical aspects of creating and drawing, to abstractly realize what reflections are in our lives; drawing the lines between where we’ve been and where we are. Through a process of writing, drawing and painting you will be making 5 projects with this underlying theme.
What we’ll explore:
Water (piece about water and what it reflects - healing nature)
Incorporate water into painting - watercolor/acrylic with water, drips
Painting a water scene
Using both sides of the brain, opposite hand drawing, reversals.
Technical understanding of re-creating reflective surfaces.
Discussions regarding reflection in each others lives.
Afternoon nature time
Embracing the Transformation In this workshop, we’ll explore what it means to transform. By making art that is very process based, we realize what it means to begin as one thing, and then morph into something totally different and new. Observing the creative process, we witness our art as it changes. We can see this throughout the natural world, and thus look to animal themes for part of our artistic direction: considering butterfly, and it’s break from the cocoon; and snake as it sheds old skin.
What we’ll explore:
Transfer images from one thing into another.
Creationing: Process art/painting
Transitional art: embracing destruction
Transform driftwood into animals, sculptural elements.
Draw, paint, use clay, fire, washes, sprays and writing.
Afternoon nature stroll.
Approaching the Vision What we envision for ourselves and our future. In this workshop, we use various creative avenues to explore our dreams, and find strength through intention and vision. Here, we emphasize the power of the group for constructive feedback and encouragement, as we push through any creative blocks we discover, and find a way to move toward our future. We’ll work on letting go of the fear of what lies ahead.
What we’ll explore:
Looking at image, seeing what’s in front of you, looking at what that’s showing you, pulling it out
Vision Board - Collage based and building the life from dreams.
Looking for imagery within paintings and scenes. Finding elements that connect with the soul and spirit. Talk of totems and spirit animals.
Afternoon inspirational nature walk.
